From the CLC
A few weeks ago, we announced the CLC's endorsements for Metro Nashville Council, Vice-Mayor, and Mayor. And you probably saw that, just a short time after receiving our endorsement, six current Metro Council members voted against working families and against a #MoralBudget that would have funded schools, transit, step increases and COLAs for teachers and public employees, community centers, etc. That's why we called a special meeting that resulted in the CLC rescinding endorsements for these six Metro Council Members. (Read more about that here.)
As we come swinging into the election season, we know that there are politicians and candidates who will try to silo working people and say just about anything to get elected. We've got to grow our movement stronger and build power to hold elected officials accountable. That's why we’re proud to announce the launch of the Nashville Justice League, a new movement for justice in our city.
The Nashville Justice League is bringing together three of the city’s largest, progressive organizations to cast a new vision for Nashville. The Central Labor Council of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, the Equity Alliance Action Fund, and TIRRC Votes are joining forces to elect a slate of elected officials who share our vision for a more just and equitable Nashville and will stand up for workers’ rights, immigrant rights, and civil rights.
